Messages and Announcements

Where announcements appear, how to close them, and how to find older messages.

We post messages to tell you about new features, planned maintenance and changes that affect your account. New messages appear at the top of your Dashboard, and every message is kept on the Messages page so you can read it again later.

Messages on your Dashboard

When you open the Dashboard, current messages show above your stats. The color tells you how important a message is:

  • Blue is general information, such as a new feature.
  • Green is good news, such as a fixed problem.
  • Yellow is a warning, such as upcoming maintenance.
  • Red is important and may need you to do something.

Most messages have an × in the corner. Click it to close the message; it won't come back on the Dashboard. Some important messages are pinned. Pinned messages have no × and stay on the Dashboard until they expire. Messages also leave the Dashboard on their own when they expire.

The Messages page

Click Messages in the left menu to see every message, newest first, including ones you closed and ones that have expired. Expired messages are labeled Ended.

A red number next to Messages in the menu means you have messages you haven't seen yet, for example one that was posted and expired while you were away. Messages you haven't seen are labeled New. Opening the Messages page marks them all as read and clears the number.

Example: we schedule maintenance for Saturday night and post a yellow message on Monday. You see it on your Dashboard and close it. On Friday you want to check the time again, so you open Messages and find it there.

Messages by email

For important announcements we may also send the message to your email address. You get each message by email only once, and it is always on your Messages page as well.

Teams

If you work in someone else's account as a team member, you see the messages meant for that account. Closing a message only closes it for you; the account owner and other team members still see it until they close it themselves.
